Agenda of the SQL for Data Analysis Workshop
1.) Introduction – Why is coding important? How does it work? Introducing the data coding environment of SQL – and comparing it to other languages (Python, R, bash etc…).
2.) SQL in practice.
- Learning the basic SQL queries and clauses. (SELECT, FROM, LIMIT)
- How to filter in SQL (WHERE, AND, OR, <, >, etc…)
- SQL functions, aggregations, averages (SUM, MIN, MAX, AVG, etc…)
- Segmentation using SQL
- JOIN-ing tables
3.) WORKSHOP and practicing on a true-to-life startup’s true-to-life dataset.

Live Online Workshop? How does it work?
This is an online workshop. You can join in from anywhere: your company’s office in Iceland, your bedroom in Germany or the beach in Spain. Either way, make sure you have:
- your computer with you
- a strong internet connection
- a peaceful environment around you (so the beach of Spain might not be the most ideal choice after all)
- optionally, I’d also recommend an extra screen for the workshop (one screen for the video-stream, and another one where you can type in and try out the SQL queries you learn).
This a live workshop. I will present the learning materials and the tasks in real time. This is not a pre-recorded course, so you’ll have to actively participate during the whole day in order to get the most out of this one-day SQL Workshop. (Note: Unfortunately, I cannot create recordings of this event. But you will get something even better: the professionally pre-recorded solution videos for all tasks that we solve in this workshop.)
This is an interactive workshop. Even though we will sit in different rooms in different cities, countries and maybe even continents, we will still keep this interactive! You can ask questions, you can get help from me if you get stuck, and you can get all the support you need throughout the whole day!
